MONTEMARZINO
Purchase of land in the Colli Tortonesi area for the production of Timorasso. The project for this white wine with exceptional characteristics was conceived in 2014.

ALBESANI and GALLINA
Thanks to a friendship with an owner of historic vineyards in Neive, we were able to lease the Albesani and Gallina vineyards, historic mentions for the production of Barbaresco. This is the first vintage produced.

FASET
The collaboration with the owner of the historic Faset vineyard in Barbaresco commenced. This is the first vintage produced.

First vintage of Barolo di Barolo, from a vineyard owned by the family of Romina Barberis, Luca’s partner.

We introduced a further qualitative selection based on the concept of Viti Vecchie (old vines), in order to achieve a greater expression of the terroir.

LE COSTE
We collaborated on the historical mention Le Coste, located in Monforte d’Alba. The wine was made only in this vintage, in a very limited edition.

VINIFICATION BY SINGLE VINEYARD
In this vintage, we resumed our vinification of wines by single vineyard: Asili, Montefico, Pajé and Pira.

We worked with Tommaso Canale for four years, his last.

LUCA AND HOW HE SEES WINEMAKING
Luca joined the company after completing his studies at oenology school.
It was in this year that he decided to lengthen the macerations and the time spent ageing in wood; he also came up with the idea of storing the Riserva in neutral containers.

PIRA
Alfredo and Luigina bought the historic Cascina Pira, in the Rocche area of Castiglione Falletto. They began making Barolo, which at the time bore the labels La Rocca and La Pira. When geographical mentions were introduced, it became simply Pira.

Luca Roagna was born.

Alfredo Roagna created Opera Prima.

After years of selections by Nonno Giovanni, our family introduced the winery’s most important wine to the world: Barbaresco Crichet Pajé.

THE BIRTH OF BARBARESCO AND BAROLO
The physiognomy of the two great Nebbiolo-based wines began to take shape.
The foundations were laid for the canonisation of Barolo and Barbaresco, which would lead them to win increasing acclaim and establish themselves on the international scene in the decades that followed.
In the old town centre, our ancestors Vincenzo and Rosa produced the first bottles of what is now Barbaresco, as we know it today.
